Cancelling Your Order
Effective from 19/10/2026
You can send a cancellation right here on the website. At the end of this page there is a form that sends it immediately, without logging in; you will promptly receive an e-mail confirming what you sent and the date and time you sent it. The text below is for a cancellation by letter or e-mail. First, though, please read when you can cancel in New Zealand, because it is not "always within 14 days" as it would be in Europe.
1. Where to send it
Seller: Lukáš Kantor, Company ID (IČO) 03177009, registered office Milíkov 244, 739 81 Milíkov
Contact e-mail: contact@heroofthebook.nz
2. Notice of cancellation
I hereby give notice that I cancel the contract for the following order:
- Order number and product: e.g. "Gift voucher for a digital book"
- Date of the order: DD / MM / YYYY
- Name: name and surname
- Address: street and number, suburb, city, postcode
- E-mail / telephone: contact
- Reason for cancellation (see section 3): e.g. "voucher not yet used"
- How the order was paid: card / bank transfer; we refund to the same means of payment
Date: DD / MM / YYYY
Signature (only if sent on paper): signature
3. When you can cancel
New Zealand law gives no general right to cancel an online purchase without a reason. The cooling-off period in sections 36K to 36M of the Fair Trading Act 1986 applies only to uninvited direct sales, where a trader visits your home or workplace or telephones you uninvited; an order you place on this website yourself is not one. A personalized book is made for one child and its creation starts straight after payment, so we do not offer a no-reason cancellation of a book either. You can cancel in these situations:
- A gift voucher within 14 days of purchase, if it has not been used. We refund the amount paid within 14 days of receiving your cancellation; if the voucher has been partly used, we refund the unused part. No New Zealand statute requires this; it is our own contractual commitment (Art. 13 of the terms and conditions).
- We cannot create the book you paid for. Then we refund the full price without delay, and you do not need to send anything.
A faulty book or audiobook is not a matter for this form. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 you are entitled to have it put right, and where the fault is substantial or cannot be put right, to a refund; those rights cannot be excluded by any agreement (section 43(1) of that Act). See the complaints policy.
4. What happens after you cancel
- We confirm receipt by e-mail and refund the amount due within 14 days, to the same means of payment wherever possible.
- If you paid by card and we do not refund you, you can ask your card issuer for a chargeback. The other routes, including the Disputes Tribunal, are listed in Art. 12 of the terms and conditions.
5. How to send it
- Through the form at the end of this page. It is sent immediately and you receive a confirmation by e-mail with its content and the date and time of sending.
- By e-mail to contact@heroofthebook.nz (copy the completed notice into the body of the message).
- By post to the seller's registered office stated above.
Nothing on this page limits a right you have under New Zealand law; if the two differ, the law prevails.
Required by law
Cancelling your order
You can withdraw from the contract right here — no letter, no explanation needed. As soon as you send the form, you'll receive a confirmation at the address you give us, with the full content of your withdrawal and the date and time you sent it.
One thing up front, so it doesn't catch you by surprise. For a book made to order to your specifications, and for a digital book whose creation began at your express request, there is no statutory right of withdrawal. Withdrawal mainly applies to a gift voucher that nobody has used yet. We'll always record your notice, and we'll always reply to it.
